New page

Hi All,

Here's the information you will need for the first weekend of the
course. There's lots of details. Please read it all now.

We need a phone number for the following people so we can let you know
if there are any last minute changes.
* ...

Registration/deposit fees for the course were due October 21. If you
have not got your fee in, please contact Susanna MacGarva for a
resolution: 1-855-727-6825, pcsar-train@castrov.cuug.ab.ca.

Students are expected to have Standard First Aid or higher. Please
e-mail your certificate to me or bring it to class. If you don't have
Standard First Aid, you can still complete the course but you will not
be certified in SAR Basics until you can produce a Standard First Aid
certificate.

By the start of the 2nd weekend of the SAR Basics course, the student
must have completed separately and show an ICS 100 certificate. This
approximately 3 hour course is available from multiple sources,
including for free on-line from the Alberta government. Certificates are
sometimes delayed, so students that don't already have ICS 100, should
take the online course immediately. See:

http://pcsar.webhop.org/mediawiki/index.php/Training/ICS_100

When you complete the course or if you already have your ICS 100
certification, please e-mail your certificate to me, or bring it to class.

We meet on Friday October 28 at 18:00 (6 pm) - 21:30 (9:30 pm) at the
Pincher Creek Elks Hall. All students are expected to be on time.

The Elks Hall is at 1047 Bev McLaughlin Drive.

From Highway 3, turn south onto Highway 6 at Pincher Station. Continue
straight south into Pincher Creek. Go straight through the roundabout
(traffic circle). As you come out of the roundabout (south) this is
Hewetson Ave. Continue straight, descending a hill, crossing a bridge,
and coming to a 4-way stop. Turn left (east on Main Street). Continue
straight to the next 4-way stop (at the 7-11). Turn left (north on Bev
McLaughlin Drive), and cross a bridge. Continue past the museum, a log
building, on your right, to Grove Street on your right. The next
building on your right is the Elks Hall. You can use the parking on the
east side (right) of the building.

We will be in the basement.

Saturday and Sunday are from 09:00 (9 am) to 17:00 (5 pm). Sunday may
run late. Lunches are provided.

If you have food allergies, please let us know by Monday October 24.

During the weekend, if you are unable to attend or have problems, text
or leave a message on 403-627-7652. Prior or between course weekends
e-mail wuth@acm.org or call 403-627-2460.

Bring clothes so that you can be both outside in the weather for up to 4
and a half hours and at other times inside a classroom. The best
approach is to use layers that you can put on and take off. Make sure
you bring enough to keep yourself warm.

Both the trainers and the students are members of various emergency
organizations. Either may be called away to respond to an emergency. For
instance, during the 2010 course we were called to an avalanche. If such
a situation arises we may suspend portions of this training and
reschedule them.
