Course Name
Search and Rescue Fundamentals
Description
SAR Fundamentals is the introductory course that covers all the basic material that a SAR worker needs to know. It includes both classroom and outdoor exercises. A provincially recognized, SAR Alberta certificate is issued for satisfactory completion of the course.
Offered To
All interested persons - search and rescue workers, government workers, and members of the public.
Up to 7 days before the course, deposits received from Pincher Creek SAR members are given priority. After 7 days before the course, seats are allocated in the order deposits are received.

Day 1: Saturday, September 9, 2006, 08:00-18:00
Day 2: Saturday, September 16, 2006, 08:00-18:00
Day 3: Saturday, September 23, 2006, 08:00-18:00, Mock Search 19:00-22:00
Day 4: Saturday, September 30, 2006, 08:00-18:00

Although we'll try as much as possible to carry forward as planned, events are subject to postponement by Search and Rescue taskings.

Corequisite
For SAR Alberta certification, the student must attain separately (before or after) Standard First Aid certification.
Cost
Our costs are $50 per student. Pincher Creek Search and Rescue is not receiving outside funding for this course. If a registered student does not attend, PC SAR will still have to pay fixed costs.
For non-PC SAR members, a deposit of $50 is required to hold a seat.
For PC SAR members, PC SAR will use internal funding to cover the cost of the course. A $50 deposit is still required which will be refunded if the student completes the course.

The text book may be purchased at a price of approximately $50.
Student is responsible for travel, meals, and accommodation.

Day 2: Outdoor clothing, calculator.
Day 3: Outdoor clothing, water, 2 sources of light. (Ready pack optional).
Day 4: Calculator, paper, pen. (Log book optional).
Bring or plan to purchase lunch each day.
