2012-10-02 Mock/Exercise plan/Initial information
From PCSAR
At 17:30 today the RCMP received a call from Vista Village that, one of their residents with Alzheimer's, Brad Mussan, was missing and believed to have left the facility through unknown means. After an initial investigation, RCMP have requested the assistance of Pincher SAR.
The overhead team and searchers are meeting at the fire hall at 18:30 at which time the mock starts.
Vista Village is able to provide some basic information about Brad.
Name: Brad Mussan
Age: 68
Height: 177 cm
Weight: 70 kg
Hair: Grey/brown, wavy
Eyes: Blue, wears glasses
Clothing:
- tan cargo pants
- white Rocky Mountain T-shirt
- blue future ford ball cap
- grey sneakers, size 10, print enclosed
Medical Condition: Has moderate Alzheimer's Disease and Type II Diabetes which is controlled through exercise, diet and medication. If he over exercises, has not eaten for some time or misses taking his medication he easily shows symptoms of low blood glucose. His physical coordination and agility is good for his age and he is able to walk well.
Other Information: Brad has been a resident of the Vista Village for the past 3 years. He grew up and has lived all his life in Pincher Creek, most recently at 437 Pineridge Crescent for 8 years, and prior to that at 925 West Avenue. After taking early retirement from the Shell plant, Brad became a very active volunteer, custodian, and deacon of the United Church.
He has "wandered" before, and was found at the old Central School yard near the church. Since then he was placed in Vista Village's Dementia Care Cottage. (Vista Village is not part of this exercise -- we ran out of time to contact them. You can assume that the facility has been thoroughly and professionally searched.)
Brad's wife Clara recently passed away. His son Cam in Calgary has been notified that he is missing.
Point Last Seen: Brad was noticed missing after he did not show up for
supper at 17:00. He was last seen in Vista Village at about 15:00.
