The Swift Water Rescue Team Leader is the person within PCSAR who leads the group's efforts to have capabilities around or on water.

Responsibilities of the Swift Water Rescue Team Leader:

  • The SWR TL facilitates the SWR Team in undertaking the team's responsibilities (see below)
  • chair meetings of the SWR Team
  • provides periodic reports to the board of the activities and needs of the SWR Team
  • act as the impetus within the team for getting things done. This does not mean that the Team Leader is expected to do a disproportionate amount of work. Rather it's expected that the work will be shared among the SWR Team Members.


Responsibilities of the Swift Water Rescue Team:

  • provide the core response of PCSAR in water-related incidents
  • periodically review and update the Water operating profile of PCSAR
  • working with the board, set a goal for PCSAR regarding the capability level it should maintain concerning water
  • develop objectives regarding personnel, training, equipment and SOPs that will help achieve the goal
  • develop and execute a recruitment plan for members of the Swift Water Rescue Team (helped by the membership committee)
  • develop and execute a training plan for both the Swift Water Rescue Team and the general membership (helped by the training committee)
  • identify needed equipment, propose budget, identify vendors (working with Treasurer and Administrator)
  • develop and execute a maintenance plan for equipment (helped by equipment committee)
  • develop Standard Operating Procedures related to water (working with preplan committee)
