Q: What are the 3 parts of of UTM you need to give to locate a point anywhere on the globe?
A: Zone, Easting, Northing
Q: Which did you state first, the Easting or the Northing?
A: Easting.
Q: What does a Northing represent?
A: The number of meters north of the equator.
Q: What does an Easting represent?
A: Meters relative to a center meridian (500,000) of the zone.
Q: How many digits are there in a full northing?
A: 7
Q: How many digits are there in a full easting?
A: 6 or 7 (with leading 0)
Q: How many digits of the abbreviated easting and northing do you give for a location on a topo map?
A: 3 of each
