This page has some quick notes about training at Pincher SAR.

You can find out about scheduled training on the CalendarPage.

Typically we have a 2.5 hour training session on the first Tuesday of each month from 19:00 to 21:30 at the fire hall. Usually there is a daytime training event once a month on a weekend. During the summer months SAR hikes are scheduled.

Our yearly schedule often looks something like this:

  • April - Equipment orientation. The location and operation of the equipment in the possession of PCSAR. Proper transport, set up

and protocols and procedures for equipment use

  • May - Rope and Knot exercise
  • June - GPS exercise
  • July - mid-month training replaced by a barbeque.
  • August - outdoor training
  • September - indoor training
  • October - Annual General Meeting replaces training at regular meeting. SAR Fundamentals first weekend.
  • November - SAR Fundamentals second weekend. Mock search.
  • December - indoor training as weather is unpredictable

If you have ideas for training or can volunteer to help with training, please add a comment to this page, contact the TrainingCoordinator, or check out MockSearchOrganizing.
