This page has some quick notes about training at Pincher SAR.

You can find out about scheduled training on the CalendarPage.

Typically we have a 2.5 hour training session on the first Tuesday of each month from 19:00 to 21:30 at the fire hall. Usually there is a daytime training event once a month on a weekend. During the summer months SAR hikes are scheduled.

Our yearly schedule often looks something like this:

  • April - Equipment orientation. The location and operation of

the equipment in the possession of PCSAR. Proper transport, set up and protocols and procedures for equipment use* May - Rope and Knot exercise* June - GPS exercise* July - mid-month training replaced by a barbeque.* August - outdoor training* September - indoor training* October - Annual General Meeting replaces training at regular meeting. SAR Fundamentals first weekend.* November - SAR Fundamentals second weekend. Mock search.* December - indoor training as weather is unpredictableAt the provincial training meeting in September, 2003, Pincher SAR was targetted to receive provincial funding to host courses in ATV Usage, Snowmobile Usage, and Swift Water Awareness/Rescue. These courses will be in the April 2004 to March 2005 period, and will of course be open to SAR Alberta members from across the province.

If you have ideas for training or can volunteer to help with training, please add a comment to this page, contact the TrainingCoordinator, or check out MockSearchOrganizing.
