Can you check where we are in getting in writing what we're supposed
 +
to do in getting ARRC numbers?
 +

 +
Supposedly we need to register meeting and searches with AEMA through
 +
the ARRC in order to have WCB coverage. However I don't think anyone
 +
in Pincher SAR has received the details in writing of what exactly we
 +
should be doing. I believe we've only received directions verbally
 +
or 2nd hand.
 +

 +
For instance, what events need to be registered? Can a search be
 +
registered during or after the event? What are the consequences of
 +
not registering? When we next have a WCB claim (as we almost did with
 +
the mock search), getting these details right will be important.
 +

 +
Ideally we should be receiving a letter from AEMA, the Fire
 +
Commissioner's Office, or SAR Alberta that lays out all the
 +
requirements.
 +

 +
If we know what we must be doing, we can make sure we are
 +
accomplishing that. We need this information both for the Preplan
 +
Committee which sets up procedures for Search Managers and also for
 +
the Training Committee which schedules lots of events. My guess is
 +
that we may not currently be doing all that we need to.
 +

 +
I brought this up a few months ago and the board said they were going
 +
to get the information. I haven't heard anything yet.

As we discussed last month, I'd really appreciate it if you could take
 +
the lead on the communications side of our training committee.
 +
To do that you'll need to be aware of what training is planned into
 +
the next few months for Pincher SAR. You'll also need to be talking
 +
to our neighbours, Crowsnest Pass SAR, Lethbridge SAR (LASARA) and the
 +
Lethbridge dog team (CSDA), and finding out any training they have
 +
which is relevant.

There's a provincial mailing list (SARA Training Coordinators) where

* {{task|Complete paperwork after grant-funded courses}}.
+
major training opportunities are announced. You'll get those
 +
announcements automatically through the PCSAR training committee
 +
mailing list.

I'm not sure whether you're comfortable with mailing lists and wikis.

If you're not, I'll be glad to walk you through them.
