The work that the Training Committee performs, can be broken up into the following major work areas. A committee member should be assigned to take the lead for each area.

  1. Record description of our training events(task Members:Brett Wuth).
  2. Develop a plan of monthly meeting training subjects(task Members:Brett Wuth). Have schedule always at least 6 months out.
  3. Find a presenter for each monthly meeting's subject. Arrange at least 3 months ahead. Provide the support the instructor needs.
  4. Propose schedule of courses(task) for the next couple of years
  5. Find an instructor and schedule grant-funded courses(task Members:Brett Wuth). Arrange several months ahead. Provide the support the instructor needs. Register students.
  6. Complete paperwork after grant-funded courses(task Members:Dick Burnham)
  7. Apply for training grants(task)
  8. Promote upcoming training(task Members:Alieza Cyr)
  9. Determine training available for our members from other organizations(task)
  10. Determine priorities for sending and funding students to outside training
  11. Identify courses that we should fund ourselves
  12. Find an instructor and schedule internally-funded courses. Arrange several months ahead. Provide the support the instructor needs. Register students.
  13. Identify non-formal training (hikes, exercises, mocks) we should take on outside the regularly scheduled meetings.
  14. Find an organizer and schedule the non-formal training. Arrange at least 3 months ahead. Provide the support the organizer needs.

  16. Liaise between Board and Training Committee(task Members:Brett Wuth)
  17. Chair training committee meetings(task Members:Brett Wuth); prepare agenda; record decisions
  18. Oversee training committee members(task Members:Brett Wuth); track task assignments; coach; encourage
  19. Develop a budget for the expenses categories of the training committee; project where we are and will be in that budget; develop over-all ask for next year's organization budget (August)
