[edit] What is a Trusted Guest?

"TrustedGuest" is a level of access that we grant to certain non-members that have a legitimate need to access some of the secured content on our wiki. Their purpose should be in alignment with PCSAR's. And we need to trust that they won't abuse the privilege.

The list of current trusted guests can be gound here.

[edit] Adding a new Trusted Guest

Only people that are in the "Bureaucrats" group of the wiki can add new Trusted Guests. Those people are listed here.

Ssh into the server and run the script:

pcsar# /usr/local/bin/wiki-members-add 'Joe Blow' jblow@example.com

using their full name and e-mail address. We want to keep their name patterned the same as we do for regular members in case they ever become a member (or were in the past).

Edit the "groups" they are part of by visiting this page.

  • remove the "Members" group
  • add the "TrustedGuest" group

You can read the help page on permissions.

[edit] Welcoming the Guest

Send an e-mail to the person, letting them know how they can get access to the secured portion of the wiki.

Hi,

I've created an account for you, which has the same level of access as a
current Pincher SAR member (Trusted Guest). Please treat with respect.
You'll be able to access the pages you need.
