Students are expected to have Standard First Aid or higher. Please e-mail your certificate to me or bring it to class. If you don't have Standard First Aid, you can still complete the course but you will not be certified in SAR Basics until you can produce a Standard First Aid certificate.
By the start of the 2nd weekend of the SAR Basics course, the student must have completed separately and show an ICS 100 certificate. This approximately 3 hour course is available from multiple sources, including for free on-line from the Alberta government. Certificates are sometimes delayed, so students that don't already have ICS 100, should take the online course immediately. See http://pcsar.webhop.org/mediawiki/index.php/Training/ICS_100
When you complete the course or if you already have your ICS 100 certification, please e-mail your certificate to me, or bring it to class.

Bring clothes so that you can be both outside in the weather for up to 4 and a half hours and at other times inside a classroom. The best approach is to use layers that you can put on and take off. Make sure you bring enough to keep yourself warm.
Both the trainers and the students are members of various emergency organizations. Either may be called away to respond to an emergency. For instance, during the 2010 course we were called to an avalanche. If such a situation arises we may suspend portions of this training and reschedule them.
