Offered by another organization:

  • Lat Long of Location for landing and possibly of incident, no UTM's
  • Local Weather conditions
  • Flagging tape or something to indicate winds tied to antennae or tree
  • Secure all loose items and people (articles in back of truck commonly missed)
  • Will do a power check at accident site before we land at the staging
  • We cannot see power lines, let us know what hazards there are on the site
  • You may be told to get ready to fly in so be prepared before we land
  • Do not approach the machine unless directed to do so by the pilot or safety officer.
  • Don't assume we see anything, anyone should feel that they can speak up and point out a hazard.
  • Most dangers time is starting and stopping the machine when the blades hang lower than normal. Do not approach machine at this time.
  • In Snow we will need a reference at the pilots door. Staff should be in a heli huddle in these situations and not move until the pilots is on the ground and directs them to do so.
  • If walking patients over, tell them to grab the belt of the person in front of them and walk like ducklings.
  • NO BEAR SPRAY in the aircraft. This must go in the basket.
